"My Milla Grass"
A fun little project I saw in a magazine, probably FamilyFun. I LOVE fully integrated projects like this that combine all the disciplines of whole mind and body learning!
Anyway, it takes very little effort or knowledge to make these greens grow. We used organic soil and seeds, let the seeds soak for a day, used cookie cutters as a guide for the letters(you can see I had to tweak a little afterwards because cookie cutters were too small for the size I wanted), read up on how to grow and harvest this superfood, and one week later, we made juice. I don't own a wheatgrass juicer so I used my food processor and added apple juice to get the most out of our little harvest. After processing, I strained the grass mixture over a bowl and we began indulging in the frothy green elixir.....yummy!! I'm not a huge fan of wheatgrass, never have been, but I will drink it on occasion, only when disguised with other more palatable juices. Milla's reaction after first sip, "mmm, sooooo good". It really was very fresh and tasty!!
The process:
Milla was thrilled to watch her "milla grass" transform from day to day. A great project for a young kid because there is noticeable change/growth each day. It inspired so many great conversations and moments.
She wanted to make one for Scarlett, eat the seeds, feed the seeds to the dogs, eat the grass like a cow, throw the grass up like confetti, play in the froth making mustaches and kissing us. And, after inhaling 2 glasses the day of juicing, she turned her nose up to drinking any the next day and thereafter ;)

I love it she's got a super green thumb. We love making sprouts around here. But Tess has something against eating the "little trees" so I have to sneak them in. Next time we see you remind me and I will bring you some and you and Milla can grow some in a glass jar. Miss you guys.
