If I had an invitation/stationery/card-making company I would call it
Social Papers or I Declare.
'Social Papers' just came to me from no-where, but 'I Declare' is one I've been holding tight for a loooooooooooong time. "Well, I declare!" is an expression that always made me snicker as a kid. My grandmother responded with those words when she could think of nothing nice to say or was blown away by something beyond her understanding, like technology. My grandmother was a polite, southern, Christian woman who never let a foul word leave her mouth. I guess it's equivalent to the modern day, "You've got to be kidding!" It can mean, how stupid, how ridiculous, or how astonishing. It is most commonly used when you are left speechless by something amazing or something unthinkable.
So, 'I Declare' has roots to my core, 25% of my blood can't wait to start a business under this name. I love the feeling it evokes and wonder if anyone else can hear the drawn out, deep south, soft-spoken, vintage tone it rings....phonetically it sounds something like this, "well, I d'clay-ah!" with a little roll of the eyes or gaping mouth. Anyway, it would be so fitting for many business models including, photography, stationery, retail boutique/on-line store, health food store, cafe or tea/coffee shop, Pilates studio, clothing line for kids, premium denim, event planning, and I think it would make a great title for a screenplay, novel, or cookbook.
One of these days I will declare.
