She started her first day at School of the Woods yesterday. She goes Mon-Fri from 8:30-11:30 and she is totally stoked!! We were so eager to get to school that we arrived a little early, but look who was there early too....Zenin, Milla's best little buddy! They played and posed for a few shots before we escorted them to class for the day, a luxury we will only get to enjoy for the first week(have to drop off in carpool line going forward). How darling are they in their wee backpacks and letter shirts?? I love these two kiddies so much!
Milla has been asking/begging for at least 6 months, "can I please go to school?", to which I replied, "yes, of course, next year, next month, next week, TOMORROW!!" This day came so fast and six months ago part of me cringed at the idea, even one month ago I doubted our decision of schooling Milla so soon. I really love our mornings together, our daily work, our discoveries, arts and crafts, outdoor play, lazy pj days, baking, dancing and singing along to music, etc. Toddlers are at their best in the mornings and now I was to hand over her glory hours to a couple of strangers and a room full of other people's kids. Yikes! At least I know that one of those "other kids" is a dear friend's son and bud to Milla. And, after meeting her teachers on "help the teacher" day, another huge worry was extinguished. They exceeded my expectations and Milla really enjoyed them. So, I had no legitimate worries and neither of us parted with tears in our eyes. She is more than ready and after spending the last month re-wiring my brain and calming my heart I am too.
What Milla said after her first 2 days of school:
-haven't I been wanting to go to school for a long day?
-i can't believe I went to school today!
-mom, you came back, you picked me up from school!
-(covered in sand head to toe) i buried my skirt in the sand!!
-Zenin cried today but we all sang a song and he felt better.
-I met new friends today. I told them my name is Milla and asked what was their name.
-I had crackers and apples and milk for a snack!
-Mom, Ms. Laufersky speaks Spanish!
-I met a boy name Asher.
-I drew you a picture, i think i left it at school!!
-I played with fruit
-I want to go back to school now.
-I met a girl in my class. she was 13, but she is going to be 3 like me on my birthday.
-mom, were you all alone without me?
